Meet Alice

My Vision

I dream of a society where we can live without fear of doing everyday things. I hate the thought of anyone feeling afraid to do something as normal as walk down a street on their own, but this is the actuality for many in our society, especially women. Whilst self-defence is not the answer to society's problems and fundamental change is needed, I want to give some of the power back to those who feel vulnerable by teaching self-defence. This is why I started my business, and my aim is to share strategies and skills with as many people as possible so that we can reclaim our confidence.

Self-Defence Instructor and Karateka

I currently hold a Self Defence Award from the renowned World Combat Association's Combat Coach programme which I completed under the tutelage of Iain Abernethy (Karate 7th Dan) and am looking forward to pursuing future qualifications with the group. The depth and rigour of the Self Defence Award along with my karate training and further research makes me confident in my ability to deliver simple and effective self-defence training.

I have experience teaching self-defence sessions, ranging from experienced martial artists to members of the public wishing to learn a few skills. In 2021 I took part in the We Need 2 Talk campaign at the University of Exeter, teaching students the basics of self-defence. Moving forward, I am excited to provide sessions to the general public.

I have been training in karate for twelve years.  With this background in Karate, I am fully capable to lead students through the physical side of self defence. I gained my black belt in August 2019 and am currently an instructor at Ren Ryu Karate Club.
